Casting Crowns-Thrive

Casting Crowns

“Thrive”

“Thrive”, Casting Crowns latest release on Sony Music Entertainment, has all the making of a best selling record.

The opening title track “Thrive” launches what will become one of Casting Crowns’ most popular album recordings to date. From the initial acoustic “hoedown” sound; Thrive quickly moves towards a warrior type anthem. Drums beat with a marching band sound, then kicks in the Woo, Woo, Woo warrior cry. The chorus delivers a powerful message; “It’s time for more than just survive, we were made to thrive”!  Good beat, great vocals and words to move others will make this popular tune.

The second track, “All You’ve Ever Wanted”, has already garnered much radio play and is destined to be a top Christian hit. Starting off with a beautiful piano like ballad; Casting Crowns lead singer, Mark Hall, sings about self-reflection and how “all my deeds and good name are just to cover all my guilty stains, ‘cause all You ever wanted was my heart”. The powerful vocals and words tell the story of all Jesus has done for us, but how we need to turn our heart over to Him. After all, that is “all HE ever wanted”.

“Just Be Held” is by far the most well-known and played song on the radio, currently charting at #5 on the Christian Billboard Charts. “Your world’s not falling apart, it’s falling into place” is a powerful chorus intertwined throughout the song with the main theme of “Just Be Held”, Mark showcases his lyrical talents again telling us how we should turn our lives over to God. Like every song on “Thrive”, “Just Be Held” tells a unique story about having a relationship with God.  This, like many of the songs on “Thrive”, has all the ingredients to be chart topping songs.

“You are the Only One” with its anthem sound is destined for plenty of air play. This track has the feel of a 70’s/80’s rock anthem guitar sound.  This may not be the most popular song on Thrive, but still have a great beat and sound to it.

With a very soft piano sound throughout the song, “Broken Together” is my favorite on this recording. Talking about a broken relationship, Mark Hall sings about being “Broken Together”. “Maybe you and I were never meant to be complete; maybe we were just meant to be broken together”. “The only way to last forever is to be broken together”. This song really showcases the band’s writing, singing, and musicianship abilities. A beautiful ballad that will soon be a chart topper!

Casting Crows has shown through the years they know how to deliver their message to the right audience while selling hit records.  They are the 2nd fastest band, next to Jars of Clay, to sell the most records from their first two releases.

Currently, touring to promote “Thrive”, Casting Crowns will be at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, IL on Friday, April 22nd.
